ARTIST ON THE WATCH: MARCUS ALLAND

Marcus, tell us a little more about how you got into music!

Well, I got into music at a very young age.

I started playing drums at the age of twelve for my church which sparked an interest in music-making.

At the age fourteen, my older brother introduced me to producing.

He took me under his wing and taught me the basics.

Throughout high school, I was active in singing and poetry which led to me writing raps.

So as time went on, I developed a passion for it and it became more than a hobby.

What is your creative process when it comes to writing songs?

For my creative process, it starts with the music.

I'm a producer, so I'm always feeding off of the energy of the sound.

Then I'll start free-styling just to get a feel for it which leads to me constructing the song and the rest is history.

What would you say to aspiring artists who look up to your work?

One thing I would say to other artists, is to keep creating and never be afraid to be yourself.

Believe in yourself when no one else does and stay on the grind because when you make it, the responsibility of your success will be yours.

Do you have anything new or upcoming we can expect to see from you?

As far as anything new, I just dropped my single, "Living in a Crisis" on all platforms.

Basically, giving input on what's going on with the U.S as far as police brutality, COVID-19, and also getting that equality for the black community.

Also, I'm dropping a new single in October so be on the lookout for that as well.
