This is Esquire.
Esquire, could you tell us more about how you got into producing?
I started producing music back in 2010 after my stint as an artist.
Back then it was so hard to find CUSTOM quality production. I wanted to have my own sound, regardless of what was out at that moment.
Taking on the role of music production gave me that avenue to be able to do so. And I wouldn’t change that for anything!
What would you say is the most difficult aspect about making beats?
Early in my career, I would have to say staying consistent. I struggled early as most artist and producers do.
I wanted to figure out the correct way, or technical way to go about things in the production spectrum. It took me linking up with a few mentors to tell me to push forward what you know feels good, and to never sit in a box musically.
Those words helped me throughout the way to find my own lane.
What sort of advice would you give aspiring music producer who look up to you?
My best advice to any aspiring producer is to STAY YOU!
There is only one you, and each of us have the potential to develop a sound of our own.
Take heed to that and constantly be a student to the music.
No one person can know it all in terms of the vast world of music, and with so many avenues to learn on a daily basis, I push to many of my younger producers to work towards investing 10,000 hours into their craft. The 10,000 hour mark states that you are a master at your craft!
Do you have anything that is new or upcoming that we can expect to see from you?
Of course! Currently I have been promoting a new single “Quarantine Bae” co-produced by myself and Tweezy Da Beat Terrorist originally out of Detroit, MI with an artist based in the Atlanta, GA by the name of Newland.
We dropped this song recently. Also I have a few other projects set to drop within the next few weeks as well stemming from artist nationally and internationally.
I can be found on all streaming platforms under the name Terrence “Esquire” Huggins and via most social media at the links I’ll list for you all!
