MEET VIIZION: UNDERGROUND RAPPER

Updated: May 4, 2020

This is Viizion.

Viizion, tell us more about how you got started in music?

I got started in music around late freshman year of high school.

I was just, you know, rapping for fun to impress my friends and what not .But, it wasn't until I graduated from high school when I took it more seriously.

My mentor and producer Brandon Cruz played a huge role in helping me shape my sound to what it is today.

I use to go up to his crib almost everyday after senior year during the summer to do these intensive drills to amplify my musical skills as an artist.

Even though at times it was frustrating and a difficult process, I knew I had to get through it in order to become a stand out artist.

What is the most difficult aspect about starting a career in music?

The most difficult aspect I would say is getting the attention and building a solid fanbase.

As I speak on that right now, I'm currently in the process of doing that.

So far its been good but still it's a real tedious process to get people to listen to you and appreciate you.

Viizion – What would you say separates your sound from everyone else?

I would say my versatility.

Being able to adapt to different kinds of instrumentals whether is soulful, funky, West Coast, trap etc.

I have my very own unique approach to each type of beat.

I treat my flow like an instrument; meaning on certain beats I try to tune my voice to compliment the instrumental.

Who are your biggest influences in music and why?

I have a wide range of musical influences.

To be honest, if I were to list them all right now it would take up a whole page.

I'm heavily influenced by a lot of old school as well as new school artists.

Growing up in Inglewood, I was exposed to a lot of West Coast hip-hop like 2pac, WC, Snoop Dogg, etc.

When I was in middle school, I was into Eminem, Drake and Lil Wayne.

But when I moved to Torrance and started really getting into music, I was heavily inspired by the styles of Eminem, Andre 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Erykah Badu and Chance the Rapper.

Do you have anything new or upcoming that we can expect to see from you?

Yes! I do have some projects in the works right now.

They will most likely be released sometime during May, so stay tuned!
