ARTIST ON THE WATCH: FREAKYP

FreakyP, tell us more about how you got into music?

American born artist/producer, Freaky P, was born Prince Simon Olateru-Olagbegi in Maryland, USA, in 1995.

He also spent some of his adventures in California.

His interest in music began in the early ages of five and throughout high school.

In 2010, he was kicked out of PG county schools (Highpoint high school) and in 2012 he was kicked out of James Hubert Blake high school in Montgomery county.

He later moved to Lagos, Nigeria, to finish his studies and graduated from early Heights College in 2014.

He then attended Babcock University where he studied political science

And also he attended Tenstrings music institute where he got a degree in music and production which helped him release his Afropop single, "Commit" in 2016.

That was his way of saying he can also do Nigeria’s popular genre of music Afropop in his mother’s homeland even though he’s a rapper.

In one of his recent interviews, he mentioned you can’t call yourself a rapper if you can’t blend sounds which is why he is the king of sounds.

You are a very respected artist! What would you say to aspiring artists who look up to you?

For the aspiring and upcoming artist who look up to me, I want to tell them to keep pushing and practice makes perfect.

And don’t rush to look for a manager so soon because most of them just want to eat your money.

Few are good, many are bad.

When you feel like you want to quit, look up to the sky and count the stars.

I bet you can’t now LOL, you know there’s room for everyone.
