ARTIST ON THE WATCH: JB SMOOTH

This is JB Smooth.

JB, tell us some more about how you got started in music.

I started making music about 2 years ago when I got my heart broken.

It honestly was one of the best things to have happened to me.

During the time it was awful and I was searching for outlets to get my mind off the current events in my life.

I became obsessed with the process of making music.

It also just made me such a stronger person mentally; I felt as if I could conquer anything thrown at me.

I am a huge believer in everything happens for a reason, without that moment in my life I wouldn't be here right now being interviewed.

What would you say has been the most difficult aspect about launching a career in music?

The most difficult part of launching my music career was the very beginning.

I got a lot of hate and judgement from people all around me.

Honestly, though I didn't care, music got me through my day and was therapeutic for me.

I have always believed in myself with anything I've done in my life.

You have to have the mentality that you're the best, and you will make it.

And that's what I tell myself every day.

Law of attraction is something I stand by, Speak your future into existence.

How would you describe your style/sound & how is it different?

I'm working on my sound everyday!

Genre wise is pop/soft r&b.

For Inspiration, I look up to Majid Jordan and Bryson Tiller a lot.

I'd like to say my sound is versatile, I sing in the car every day trying to match my voice to the artists I'll be listening to.

I am so happy with the way I sound now vs. what I sounded like when I first started, it's night and day.

Do you have anything new or upcoming we can expect to see from you?

Yes!

My EP "Mixed Emotions" released on all platforms June 18th!

This release means a lot to me since it is my first EP and I was working on this for months.

I'm really excited of how it came out.

There's 3 songs on there called, "Back & Forth" "Slippin Slide" and "One Time ft. Maurice."

The first two songs were produced by my friends itsTailoredbeatz and One Time was produced by my boy Kaos Lucky

I plan to shoot a music video for One Time since that is the most popular song rn, this video is gonna be dope stay tuned!

I'm going to be dropping some singles this summer to keep my momentum going!
