BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST: ALYSSA GRACE

Tell us more about how you got into music & songwriting?

When I was younger I started writing songs with my friends for fun.

The lyrics didn’t even make any sense.

Then when I was in about 6th grade, I made a song about getting bullied.

I had no experience or idea how to write a song, but for my first song, I would say it was decent.

I started writing more songs as more things started to happen in my life.

It was a way to help me communicate to people that didn’t understand what I was going through.

What would you say is the most difficult aspect about launching a career in music?

You can have talent and skills, but the hardest thing about getting in the music industry is getting people to listen to your song or even use it on a platform.

It may take off or only get a couple of listeners.

For me, being a young teen it’s been especially difficult because many adults don’t give kids my age a chance.

But I think people my age have a lot to offer and add to the music industry.

You are so young and talented! What would you say to young aspiring artists who look up to your music?

First off, thanks!

When you do something, make sure it’s something you enjoy.

Music relieves stress/pressure for me and I write about my life.

People have told me they connect with my lyrics.

If you try to do what someone else wants you to do, you won’t enjoy it and that will come through in your music.

Do you have anything new or upcoming we can expect to see from you?

I’m really excited to be releasing my first EP which will have 5 originals I wrote this year.

“Breathe,” which is the name of the EP and the first single that is currently available.

I’ll be shooting a music video for the second song “What’s a Girl” soon.

I’ve been trying to find places to perform live because that’s what I love to do more than anything.

It’s been hard with COVID but I’ve been able to find a few outdoor places that can have live entertainment.
