ARTIST ON THE WATCH: DRAKE JAZZ BROWN

This is Drake Jazz Brown.

Drake Jazz Brown, tell us more about how you got started in music?

The first real song I’ve ever made, I was around 14 years old.

Music has always been a huge part of my life.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been writing songs and beat boxing.

So I guess, it was just a matter of time before I got in front of a computer and created what I had in my head.

What is the most difficult aspect about launching a career in music?

Getting people to listen.

Being patient.

If you want it bad enough though, it’ll come.

How would you describe your style/sound & how is it different?

My sound is dark alternative.

On one side of my musical influence is experimental electronic music like Aphex Twin and William Basinski.

And on the other side is emotional/intense R&B/alternative like the Weeknd, Corbin, Bones, and PartyNextDoor.

A huge side of my influence stems from film soundtracks as well: the ambient scores of "Drive" or the fast paced synths of "Good Time".

So, I guess my sound is a mixture of all of this and I hope people can relate to that.

Do you have anything new or upcoming that we can expect to see from you?

I just released the song "In My Sleep" on April 20th and the music video will be released on May 20th.
